Crown buys from Heineken

Heineken N.V. has announced an agreement to sell its Mexican packaging business, Empaque, to Crown Holdings Inc.
The disposal is part of a broader review of Heineken’s non-core activity. Empaque, which was acquired by Heineken in 2010 as part of the FEMSA Cerveza acquisition, generated revenues of €495 million and EBITDA of €96 million in 2013.

After the disposal, Empaque will remain a key strategic supplier to Heineken in Mexico, reducing the risk of business disruption following the divestiture. The transaction is subject to Mexican antitrust approval (among other conditions) and the company expects to conclude the disposal by year-end.

Headquartered in Amsterdam, HEINEKEN is the world's second-largest brewer by revenue. The Heineken brand is present in more than 170 countries and is the largest international premium beer. The company generated revenues of €19.2 billion in 2013.
