BillerudKorsnäs FibreForm awarded at UK Packaging Awards
BillerudKorsnäs FibreForm awarded at UK Packaging Awards prestigious UK Packaging Awards 2013, Design Futures’ entry using BillerudKorsnäs FibreForm was awarded in the “Innovation of the Year” category. The unique material enables innovative shapes and embossing that previously was unachievable, creating packages that indeed attract consumers’ attention.
“This entry really wowed the judges who all noted how a commodity material had been transformed into a beautifully created premium package. BillerudKorsnäs’ FibreForm is the material behind the bag; it is a 100% virgin fibre product and, as a material of unique properties, it can be formed into shapes and embossed to depths previously unachievable. Design Futures’s brief from Townsend Fine Jewellers was to create a gift bag that would provide confirmation of purchase and reflect the unique design qualities of the range. The finished gift bag is a treat to look at and touch; a new embossing process was used which embosses to depths up to 20mm, up to ten times the usual depth and creates astonishing clarity. The judging panel had no qualms about making this entrant Innovation of the Year. One judge noted that this development could be used on a range of other applications while another commented: “Wonderful adaptation of a natural and sustainable material. Well done and look forward to seeing more.”
